For a buying group, it is very enjoyable to work with an independent practice during its start-up phase and then be able to play a small part in the practice’s subsequent successes. One example, of this was the award winning ‘The Liverpool Vets’, the brainchild of Dr Danielle Greenberg, who opened the practice in 2018.
Danielle met with Chris and in the early years it was a learning experience for both as Danielle got to grips with running a business and Chris was able to identify what support the practice needed. Despite the early challenges, Danielle was the Winner of the ‘Petplan Vet of the Year, 2019’ a testament to the care and trust she gave to her animals and their owners.
From Year 3, Chris worked closely with Danielle to maximise her savings via PBG’s ‘Better Buy’ report, where PBG identify alternative products with higher rebates or lower pricing but leave the clinical and commercial decisions to the practice. Our role as a buying group is to identify savings, not remove clinical freedom. As Danielle noted,
“Creating out Best Buys list was a game changer in year 3 and onwards allowing me to quickly pick the most cost effective products and to change brands swiftly.”
The practice went from strength to strength, growing steadily and relocating to a larger site. Our relationship with Danielle ended in 2023 when she made the decision to sell her practice to a corporate group, but she went with our best wishes and she was truly great to work with. PBG focusses heavily on supporting our members so it was lovely for Danielle to say in an email to us:
